Tell that to the literal millions of players migrating from one open world survival game to the next. Games get patched and sometimes changed after release these days, but a simple look at real AAA releases shows that players prefer stable polished releases than games that are still marked as ongoing development. If anything this is very much par for the course for Epic as of now. Paragon had some very brief exposure when it released, it was clear it had issues and now it's gone again. Quite frankly, I don't see exposure of either game, besides enthusiast youtube channels. Otherwise you'd see more exposure similar to Paragon. Plus, this game has the name, the feel and the look of UT. How many "free" arena shooters are there still? Warsow has been leaking players for years and Nexuiz is entirely dead. There is a ton of young people with no disposable income and relatively low end PC's especially in europe.

Players don't care whether it is free or it isn't there's many good games out there that are free, too.ĭon't underestimate the draw of 'free'. How many times have fundamental abilities and concepts changed in, say, Overwatch? Dota? League of Legends? In today's games industry that's arguable. They are relatively small for a game studio, they don't communicate well to the community, they seemingly work on whatever the fuck they want, for however long they feel like, and things get released when they get released.īecause the game is much more subject to change than a traditionally "released" game would be. Its hard to know Epic's plans/thoughts exactly because they are a lot like Valve. I think UT is their longest term project, and I think its because VR might play BIG into UT by the time its done, its probably years (like 5 or more) away from being "done". Paragon is probably 12-18 months from proper release (I expect we'll see an increase in marketing in the months leading up to it), which is when that team will shrink (other than a team for bug fixes, hero releases and balance updates).Īt that point they will focus more on Fortnite and UT. They still haven't finalized core game systems in Paragon and a couple months ago stated they were going to rework the entire card system (their version of MOBA items).they've already completely reworked some of the cards and I think their latest blog said 40 more card reworks are coming which fit the upcoming system overhaul better. Its still early access beta and has the "work in progress" watermark on the screen. Paragon isn't "out" in terms of being finished and released. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
